About Joey

Joey Lynch is a Melbourne-based, freelance journalist and content creator

Specialising in covering football but able to cover a wide range of sports, news, entertainment and more, Joey (he/him) is one of Australia’s leading up-and-coming reporters. His written works have previously been published by industry leaders such as ESPN, SBS’ The World Game, AAP, and Optus Sport and he has appeared on podcasts, radio shows and television programs across Australia and around the world.

Beyond print, Joey is an MC for special events and ceremonies and is a match-day commentator for sporting events in both a play-by-play and analysis role; operating independently or as part of a team.

Outside of journalism, Joey is passionate about Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) health and empowerment. Still in the midst of an ongoing 13-year Hodgkin’s Lymphoma journey, he volunteers as a Board Director in the non-profit sector, serving as Chair of the Board with CanTeen Australia.
